Three-day Performance, Live Broadcast
SHIFT - beyond the binary
Horror consists out of a performance carried out in a private room and its live-broadcast in a gallery space. Visitors of the art space can observe the artists trough the broadcast and paraelly listen to them reading out self-written horror stories trough a hotline service offered to them.
The stories, which are read aloud via a telephone hotline, are modelled on the structure of classic horror stories. However, they should be understood as counter-narratives and modern myths, in which the female character steps out of the role of victim and becomes the self-determined protagonist of her own story.
The work is dealing with the reduction of a female-read body to an image. The work plays with twisting the object of observation into a subject that eventually takes over the role of a protagonist.
